About The Performer
“Color, intensity, simplicity: the piano playing of Fanny Azzuro goes straight to the point with an irresistible freshness and poetry.”
Her affection for Russian music motivated her to record her first album, Russian Impulse: Rachmaninov, Prokofiev and Kapustin. It was inspired by two piano legends: Boris Petrushansky and Vladimir Viardo.
Three years later, she decided to focus on a more fluid repertoire: French and Spanish music at the turn of the 20th century. 1905 Impressions, “fruit of a compelling concept”, was widely acclaimed by the press (2018 ICMA Nomination, Pianiste Maestro, 5 Pizzicato, ****Pianist Magazine…).
In 2019, she will record a three-album set based around Schumann, Le Rouge et le Noir, with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and the Quatuor Voce in a wide-ranging project from Bach to Dutilleux, featuring Schumann and Chopin.
Open to all musical styles, she has a passion for chamber music and has shared magical moments with the Voce and Van Kuijk quartets. For the last eight years, she has been involved with the SpiriTango Quartet in promoting a repertoire of contemporary world music. She also collaborates with Hervé Sellin in a program of jazz and classical music. She has just created a “recital with dancers” with the stage director Parelle Gervasoni.
Sponsored by the Safran Foundation for music, the Mécénat Musical Société Générale, the Spedidam and the Adami, she has recorded six albums within a few years, after studying in some of the most prestigious European schools (Paris National Conservatoire, Accademia Pianistica in Imola, Helsinki Sibelius Academy). Fanny has performed in renowned festivals and venues: Auvers-sur-Oise Festival, Nohant Chopin Festival, Salle Cortot in Paris, the opera house in Lyon, Pianos Folies in Le Touquet, New York Piano Festival, Festival Musiq’3 in Brussels, Seoul Art Center, Daning Theatre Shanghai, Beijing, São Paulo, Geneva…
